First off, THE CRIBS ARE FUCKING GREAT! Secondly, THE CRIBS are now even greater as ex-Smiths guitarist/songwriter JOHNNY MARR has joined the band and will continue to write, record and tour as the fourth band member which DOES NOT SUCK. They've just finished a spate of UK dates which drew raves (as expected). The good news is they will begin recording again soon. For now, what this clip from the NME Awrds of them covering the Smiths "Panic" w/ Mr. Marr springling some magic jangle into the works. I've heard a few new demos already AND THEY ARE AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! So Dig this shiznit...

The Cribs are joined on stage by Lee Ranaldo for Sonic Youth for the first and hopefully not the last time, to perform a super rare live version of "Be Safe," from the MENS'S NEEDS" album on which Lee recorded the spoken-word track. You'll get one minute and one minute only from the encore of the Williamsburg Music Hall show 3/20/08. See The Cribs Apr 4 at the El Rey in LA - last date of this tour!

A few years back, THE CRIBS played SXSW about 14 times in 3 days looking for anyone who would listen. This year, they've returned as coheadliners playing to 1000 fans singing along to every word
which didn't bother me one bit. Here's a nice & noisy bootleg of Kate Nash's boyfriend spitting out the first song of the set, "Don't You Wanna Be Relavant," (Dylan Gershon's favorite song!) at Stubbs in Austin from March 14, '08. Be relevant and catch them Fri Apr 4, in LA @ the El Rey and watch my boy go nuts!

Punk rock jailbait, The Cribs have been invited to support The Sex(y) Pistols at the Brixton Academy for 4 sold out shows Nov. 8, 10, 12, 14. The Jarman Brothers weren't even born until years after the original release of "Never Mind The Bullocks." This week in the UK, "Bullocks" turns 30 years old and The Cribs release their new single, "Don't You Wanna Be Relevant?". Ah, Clever lads, these. Check out the annimated video for the track posted here. By the way, The cribs said, Yes!

Oh to be young and full of...er, energy. The Cribs have bashed themselves up one side of the globe and down the other. Prior to their current Japanese dates, both Ryan and Gary enjoyed a quick tour of some of the UK's dodgy emergency clinics, and not for fun or profit. Seems guitarist Ryan chucked himself of the stage in Birmingham (home of Uriah Heep and The Move!) two weeks ago while the bouncers weren't looking. When he tried to make his way back to work on stage, they thumped him. Tough enough that poor Ry had all his clothes torn off, lost his shoes(yet again) and adding insult to inury, the security tried to pull his head off for his trouble. Ouch! Two night later in Sheffield (home of The Human League & Cabaret Voltaire!), twin bro Gary takes ill with blood poisening thanks to some nasty cuts. Three cheers for antibiotics and the Jarmans are good as Google. Younger bro & drummer Ross is trying to keep far away from his siblings and excited to return to the US alive just as England is starting to freeze over. More exciting news soon from the lives of the young and obviously restless. Until then, have a look at Ryan Jarman showing the UK's home viewers that he believes he can fly.

UK upstart trio, THE CRIBS are still recovering from their Lollapalooza '07 blast furnace experience. The Cribs packed out the Empty Bottle the night before their main stage show with fans shouting out every word to every song in the set. Things got really weird when overheated kids started taking off their clothes, jumping on stage and back into the audience, on occasion, with some of the Jarman brothers (AKA The Cribs) along with them. Due to demand a second show has been added at Union Pool in Brooklyn this Sunday, Aug 12.
