New releases

E-40, Wings, and Poor Man's Hydraulics

Interns Amanda Klimczak and Kaylen Poretzky were lucky enough to snag a picture with 40 Water.
E 40 was in the Artist Lounge last Friday to promote his new album, Ball Street Journal, and his newest business venture, Wing Stop.
Those who stopped by were able to eat all of the different varieties of wings that Wing Stop had to offer and listen to six new tracks off of the new album. Before each song, E 40 explained the meaning and background of each track, often making the room roar with laughter. After the songs were played and people ceased their dancing, E 40 took the time to talk to individuals and take pictures with interns.

A complete video history will also be included in the special package, with every video Static-X has ever made, along with an audio CD of the concert (track listing below). In addition, a limited-edition package will be released on October 7th that includes a bonus DVD featuring the band’s 1997 concert at Hollywood’s famous Whiskey A Go-Go club, which was recorded two years prior to the release of Static-X’s platinum-selling debut Wisconsin Death Trip. Metallica's "Death Magnetic" is due out this fall on WBR.

Rachael Yamagata's forthcoming CD contains two parts. The first, Elephants, is the darker and more vulnerable of the two. It plays like a film score, with orchestral transitions that expand as the songs progress. The more guitar-driven Teeth Sinking Into Heart is grittier and more defiantly cynical. Underscored by Rachael’s husky alto and expressive piano (and now guitar) playing, the two parts, when taken together, present a snapshot of the emotions that revolve around heartbreak and the inevitable challenges of relationships
