CHRISTMAS ON MARS, the first full-length, Intergalactic Sci-Fi film fantasy from THE FLAMING LIPS is finally finished. I said it's finished, OK? To prove it, here's an outtake starring Adam Goldberg and Isaac Brock from Modest Mouse. I had been informed by "Movie Industry Insiders" that he was up for an Oscar until this bit of Film Noir hit the cutting room floor. Ah well, here's to the "Extra's Menu." You can catch the World Premier of CHRISTMAS ON MARS at the Sasquatch Festival in Quincy, WA on Sun May 25.

"Christmas On Mars"
A fantastical and disturbing humanistic freakout. As much about bleak isolation as it is about exaggerated colorful optimism. The long awaited feature film by The Flaming Lips is set in outer space on the surface of Mars. The double failures of a clunky old oxygen generator and an exotic but finicky gravity control pod have conspired to weaken the resolve and psychological judgment of the crew and the film’s protagonist Major Syrtis. This means he has horrific hallucinations that are centered around the artificial birth of the Christmas baby. An alien super-being arrives and with his otherworldly powers fixes the oxygen generator but it’s the station’s genius mechanic who fixes the gravity problem. And in a way that crystallizes The Flaming Lips philosophy “It’s magic and hard work that really gets the job done.” Beware, it is a strange experience not meant for children, but for the inner child in all of us grown-ups.

It's official. Obama has finally selected his running mate for Vice Pres. It's a choice that may surprise pundits but will make perfect sense to the rest of us. Obama is currently considering going on the campaign trail this summer with The Flaming Lips and just might share the space bubble with Captain Coyne and descend from the UFO at festivals across the land. One Thousand actually flaming Flaming Lips fans marching down the srteets of downtown Oklahoma City last saturday night (Oct 27th) as part of the first anual Ghouls Gone Wild Parade featuring The Flaming Lips. This years theme: "The March of 1000 Flaming Skeletons." Unsure of next year's theme at press time though Wayne did mentions something called the Chainsaw Orchestra...

It's Official! The Flaming Lips have a street named in their honor in their homwtown of Oklahoma City. Today at 11:30am CT, the Mayor of OKC, Mick Cornett, presented the band with the sign to their very own street located in the "groovers section" of downtown known as Bricktown. Who cares that its actually an alley, cleverly called "FLAMING LIPS ALLEY," The Lips are still one step closer to world domination! The sign was actually posted some months ago and fans have been trying to steal the sign ever since. Want your own Flaming Lips Alley street sign? People are beginning to wonder if i'm doing a bit of music supervision on the side due to the onslaught of new LIPS music turning up on all screens big and small. The extra cash is great... THE BROTHERS SOLOMON, (Sony Pictures films) opens TODAY and if you stay to the very end, you'll hear "THE YEAH YEAH YEAH SONG" rolling by w/ the credits. Sweet! Turn on the TV when you get home and chances are, you'll hear "THE W.A.N.D." in a Dell commercial. Whacky, huh?

Work and play. it's all the same for The Flaming Lips.
They manage to avoid sleep by getting things done. When they're not touring, they record, they remix other people's recordings,they build UFO's... What's next? How about a fresh crop of new recordings on various upcoming soundtracks and scores. "Summercamp!" is a documentary by Bradley Beesley & Sarah Price (Fearless Freaks, UFO's At The Zoo).

Gonzo wig-lifters THE FLAMING LIPS will finally release their long-awaited, first-ever live DVD/MVI, UFO'S AT THE ZOO: THE LEGENDARY CONCERT IN OKLAHOMA CITY now on August 21, 2007. The Lips wanted to include some additional footage which caused the delay in production but then, more is…MORE!
The LIPS tour the US this September but you can catch them at the Southern Comfort Experience, a free outdoor show on Saturday August 25, at Petco Park in San Diego, California.

The Flaming Lips blew 80,000 minds at Bonnaroo by arriving (and departing) the stage for their 2-hour show from their custom built UFO.
